Tascam Us 122l Drivers For Mac Rating: 3,7/5 9365 votes

Greedo95, what version of the driver did you use? I did not experience these issues with the 3.0 beta driver on my MBP (2014). (See the link in my previous post.)While we're at it, just a minor warning regarding the beta driver: my Mac gave me a headache the day after I installed the drivers. Not entirely sure that this was related to the driver (AppleCare technician agreed it is a major suspect). My mac wouldn't boot up anymore, not even in safe mode, so I had to use the rescue partition and reinstall the OS.

I've tried posting this in the Logic Express forum but not received any replies that help so am putting it here in the hope that a few more eyes will see it and it'll strike a chord with someone!I'm using LE 7.2.3 with a Tascam US-122L and have been trying to reduce the latency by reducing the I/O Buffer Size. I have found I can't reduce it beyond 256 without the playback totally breaking up (mostly silence, the cursor stops and starts, no warning messages). CPU loading is minimal and I've even tried single-track recordings with the same results.512 and 256 work fine. 128 Buffer Size produces this strange effect and I found out that my system.log file fills up with the following message every second:Jan 26 18:51:31 xxxxxx-xxxxxx-computer kernel0: USBF: 171139.681 AppleUSBEHCI0x3a2d000::UIMCreateBulkEndpoint: USB 2.0 Spec (5.8.3) converting MPS from 9 to 51264 and 32 are also giving the same kind of effect but the messages don't appear in the log. This looks to me very like a driver or firmware issue, but I can't get ANYONE to confirm it or deny that it happens to them. I've tried e-mailing Tascam and asking on multiple forums (BigBlueLounge, Logic Express, 440 Forums) and have received ZERO responses.

It seems noone is using a US-122L with a Mac and despite the sound quality being good and me being otherwise happy with the unit, I think it's going to have to go back to the shop - that's going to be fun as it's 3 months old!I've tried removing all other USB devices and upgrading the Tascams firmware and drivers (1.02 now) and now I'm pretty much stumped. PLEASE could someone replicate this or deny it happens or even give me a hug cos I'm feeling majorly alone at the moment!:o(. Hi synthetic. Wow a reply from someone who uses Logic and the US-122L. Sorry I'm still in shock! Seems we are few and far between.Tell me, if you set the latency to 128 what happens? Do you get messages in the system.log?I have found out that if I use the US-122L on a USB-1.1 port, it works down to 128 and the messages disappear from the log file.

I can't go better than that without Logic throwing up error messages about midi sync issues but I feel this MAY be because the only USB-1.1 ports I have are on my iMac keyboard so the bus is being shared by mouse & kb input. So it would appear that the issue is isolated to the USB-2 drivers & firmware. Sorry for the ignorance but I take it your Powerbook is USB-2?I'll try out 96KHz tonight, I think I'm on 44.1 or 48 at the moment. The direct monitoring suggestions works for some purposes but playing software instruments from my midi keyboard will still have the latency issue as there is no direct signal to monitor.Once again, thanks for the help!

I couldn't select 96KHz cos I was still on the USB-1.1 port.Ok, the best I can get is either USB-1.1 with 128 buffer at 48KHz or USB-2 with 256 buffer at 96KHz, both of these are going to have about the same latency so I'm gonna go with the 96KHz setting for the better quality.I also found that USB-1.1 at 128 was very dodgy, I had to keep resetting the unit every 10-15 minutes by unplugging it and plugging back in again. Argh Tascam why can you not write drivers that work?????I may eBay it and buy an Edirol UA-25 as I've heard good reports about that one on the Mac and it's similar in capabilities.
