Guys,I have just bought a bag of NitroPhos fertilizer for my lawn. It specifies different application settings for different spreaders.
I have a Scott's Basic broadcast spreader, but NitroPhos only offers me guidance on the EasyGreen model, which I do not have. How do I make the conversion? NitroPhos tells me to apply 5 lbs/1000 sq. What do the numbers on my spreader mean?
I have numbers starting from 1 to 15. My spreader model is for 5,000 sq. Does a setting of 3 mean I'm spreading 3 lbs of fertilizer for 5,000 sq.
Ft, or is it 3 lbs per 1000 sq. Ft?You would think this would be fairly straight forward, but I can't seem to find any answers online.
I'm hoping that some of you guys might be able to help. Thanks again. I looked up Scott's Turf Builder which lists both the Easy Green and the Basic models.
The basic model setting for Scott's Turf Builder should be 3 1/4 and the Easy Green, with the same fertilizer, should be 27 1/2 setting.I simply took the ratio of them to come up with a conversion factor of 11.8 percent. I then went to the NitroPhos bag which lists the Easy Green model and specifies a setting of 25 1/2 and I multiplied that by my conversion factor to come up with the equivalent of a 3 setting for the Basic model. That doesn't seem to jive with the 5 recommendations I'm getting from you guys.
This is a tricky question since there are different kind ofscott spreaders and the lesco products doesn't list the settingsfor all of the scott's spreaders. I use the standard Scottspreader. What I figured out is that the spreader number representsthe amount of pounds of product per 1000 sq ft.Example: if you want to apply 4lbs/1000 sq ft of product thenuse setting 4. If you want to apply 8lbs/1000 sq ft then usesetting 8.Always remember not to go over the maximum amt of product peryear. This is important when applying lesco pre-emergent andpost-emergent since it can affect the PH of the soil.I also found this chart. The standard Scott spreader settinggoes from 1 to 18.GENERIC SETTINGS - Rotary / BroadcastSpreadersApplication Rate3 lbs/1,000 sq.
